The Elf Bar AF5000 is part of Elf Bar’s prefilled pod kit range, designed as the post-June-2025 replacement for the original AF disposable line. It uses a rechargeable device with replaceable prefilled pods. The device body itself stays with you, charges via USB-C, and when a pod runs out you simply remove it and click in a new one.

In strict terms, the AF5000 is not a refillable kit (where you would top up the same pod with bottled e-liquid). It is a prefilled pod kit (where you swap out the entire pod). The distinction matters because UK TPD rules cap any pod containing nicotine at 2ml maximum capacity, and prefilled pods are filled at the factory under tested conditions. Each AF5000 pod holds 2ml of nic salt e-liquid at 20mg/ml strength, which is the UK legal maximum.

A single AF5000 pod typically delivers around 5000 puffs before needing replacement, depending on draw length and puff frequency. That means one pod gives you roughly the same vape life as several traditional disposables, while the device itself can be reused indefinitely. From an environmental and cost standpoint, this is one of the main reasons the AF5000 and similar prefilled pod kits replaced disposables as the standard format from 1 June 2025.

Why you cannot top up an AF5000 pod with bottled e-liquid

The AF5000 pod is a sealed prefilled unit. There is no fill port, the coil is fixed inside the pod and the design is intended for one factory fill followed by single use. Trying to inject e-liquid through the mouthpiece or pry the pod open can damage the coil, cause leaking, void any warranty and produce burnt or unpleasant flavour. For genuine refilling (top up with bottled e-liquid), you need a different kit, specifically a refillable pod kit.

How to replace an AF5000 pod step by step

When the flavour starts to fade or the pod stops producing vapour: 1) gently pull the empty pod out of the device, 2) check the contacts at the base of the new pod are clean, 3) click the new pod into the device until it seats firmly with a small magnetic snap, 4) take a couple of priming puffs without firing to let the coil saturate, 5) resume normal use. The device will autodetect the new pod. No buttons, no settings.

Refillable alternatives if you prefer bottled e-liquid

If you want the freedom to use your own bottled e-liquid rather than buying replacement pods, the next step up is a refillable pod kit.
