Every TPD-compliant Crystal Bar sold legally in the UK contains 20mg/ml of nicotine salt e-liquid, which is the maximum strength permitted under the Tobacco Products Directive. The UK pod size is capped at 2ml. Multiply the two and a single Crystal Bar contains 40mg of total nicotine. The nicotine in a Crystal Bar is nicotine salt rather than freebase nicotine. That is why 20mg/ml nic salt feels manageable in a Crystal Bar, whereas 20mg/ml freebase nicotine would feel harsh on most throats.

How Crystal Bar nicotine compares with cigarettes

A single cigarette typically contains around 10-12mg of nicotine, but only roughly 1-2mg of that is actually absorbed during smoking because most of it burns away or is exhaled with the smoke. By net nicotine absorbed, a 40mg Crystal Bar is somewhere between 20 and 48 cigarettes equivalent depending on how it is calculated. By raw nicotine content, a 40mg Crystal Bar contains roughly the same as a pack of 20 cigarettes.

What about 10mg/ml and 0mg Crystal options?

For users who want a milder hit or who are stepping down toward quitting, the SKE Crystal range also offers some 10mg/ml products (half the strength) and 0mg nicotine-free options. These are popular with people who have already adjusted from cigarettes and want to reduce dependence without losing the routine. A 10mg/ml Crystal Bar contains 20mg total nicotine in 2ml. A 0mg Crystal Bar contains no nicotine at all, just PG, VG and flavouring.

Why this matters under TPD law

The 20mg/ml cap and the 2ml pod cap are both UK legal maximums under the Tobacco Products Directive 2014 (TPD), implemented in UK law via the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 (TRPR). Any genuine Crystal Bar product sold in the UK must respect both limits. If you see a Crystal Bar marketed as containing more than 20mg/ml or more than 2ml of e-liquid, it is either a US import sold illegally or a counterfeit. Always verify the authentication code on the box.
